For eight hours on May 15th, 2013 Ken Ward and Jay O’Hara blocked 40,000 tons of Appalachian coal from being delivered to the Brayton Point Power Station in Somerset, Massachusetts, by anchoring their lobster boat, the “Henry David T” between the ship and the pier. Brayton Point is the largest greenhouse gas emitter in New England, and their action helped spark a summer of activity aimed at getting the plant shut down and making Massachusetts coal free.
For their action the two have four charges brought against them and are set to stand trial at the Fall River Justice Center on May 15th, 2014 at 9AM. All are invited to save the date, and join Ken and Jay in Fall River to say that taking dramatic action to end our addiction to fossil fuels and curbing climate pollution is absolutely necessary.
